Individual therapy

I work primary from a psychodynamic perspective, however, having done extensive training ,I could consider myself to be integrative. This means I use a range of skills according to what the issues are that the person is struggling with. People are unique, as is their psychological distress. Therefore, differing approaches allows for flexibility that is best able to support the person in their self-exploration. I do believe that looking at one's past is an important part of counselling and therapy because it can help makes sense of what has shaped us to be the person we are right now. However, it should only inform us, not drag us back to a place we don't want to be. By making conscious the things "we had never thought about before" there is the possibility of letting go of our usual ways of thinking or acting and moving forward in a life that offers a source of personal enrichment and empowerment, giving us opportunities, confidence and new choices.
